Mole Drainage

Fast, affordable subsurface drainage for heavy clay ground. Form unlined underground channels that draw excess moisture out of crop root zones.

Service Overview

‍

Heavy clay soils hold excess moisture tightly, creating poor aeration and delayed seed germination. Mole drainage is a proven, economical method to establish subsurface drainage in ground with sufficient clay content.

‍

Using a heavy-duty mole plow, we pull a torpedo-shaped foot through the subsoil at depths of 24 to 36 inches. The expanding expander plug leaves a smooth, unlined circular channel that drains gravity water directly into open ditches or over existing tile mains.

‍

Key Benefits:

  • Lower Cost per Acre: Achieve deep drainage benefits at a fraction of the cost of conventional plastic tile.
  • Improved Clay Permeability: The plow leg fractures dense subsoil layers, opening natural fissures for water infiltration.
  • Faster Spring Field Access: Dry out heavy clay grounds earlier to stay on track during short planting windows.
  • Excellent Complement to Tile: Pull mole runs perpendicular over deep tile lines to speed up lateral water entry.
